Week 7: The 2016 Quarterback Carousel Continues to Spin

October 19, 2016 • Ben Heck • Features, Front Page, Lists

We’re now approaching Week 7, and it’s incredible how many different starting quarterbacks we’ve already seen under center across the National Football League. And with the latest injury to Ben Roethlisberger and benching of Ryan Fitzpatrick, it’s only getting worse.

I mean–unsurprisingly, of course–we saw three different starting quarterbacks for the Cleveland Browns within the first three weeks of the season.

Here’s a quick look at all of the quarterbacks with at least one start this season, including the two QBs who will be making its first start of the season this Sunday:

As of this coming Sunday, Week 7 action, only 22 NFL teams will have had the same start through the first seven weeks of the season. Meaning 10 teams will have had multiple starters, two of which have already had three different starting quarterbacks under center (Browns and Patriots). You know it’s an odd season when the New England Patriots use three starters. Due to the suspension to Brady and injury to Garappolo, of course. But still.

It’s also important to note that five of the 44 quarterbacks listed above are rookies. The list of rookie quarterbacks, however, does not include the one name you’d expect to be on the list: No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff of the L.A. Rams. But with Keenum going 3-3 for the Rams so far, we’re bound to see Goff under center at some point in the regular season. It’s only a matter of time at this point.

How many more quarterbacks will we see added to the list from now until Week 17?
