Fantasy: Another Running Back Headed to Injured Reserve

October 20, 2016 • Ben Heck • Fantasy, Front Page

Green Bay Packers’ running back Eddie Lacy has run for 360 yards on 71 carries this season (5.1 YPC) over his five games.

But news has broken that he’ll be headed to injured reserve and it’s unknown if he’ll make a return to the Packers’ before the season is over. Apparently, his injury is a little more than just an ankle sprain, and he’ll need to undergo ankle surgery.

This is a devastating blow to fantasy owners who were expecting a bounce back season from the 26-year old running back. And he’s just the latest RB to hit the injured reserve this season. The IR list for backs is continuously growing:

Adrian Peterson, Vikings
Danny Woodhead, Chargers
Shane Vereen, Giants
Chris Johnson, Cardinals
Ameer Abdullah, Lions
Eddie Lacy, Packers
Charles Sims, Buccaneers
Cedric Peerman, Bengals

Not to mention the other serious injuries to star running backs this season (non-IR injuries from this season):

Doug Martin, Buccaneers
Thomas Rawls, Seahawks
James Starks, Packers
Arian Foster, Dolphins
Jonathan Stewart, Panthers
LeSean McCoy, Bills

Jeremy Langford, Bears
Darren McFadden, Cowboys
Jonathan Grimes, Texans
