Fantasy: Trevor Siemian Could be Your Bye Week Savior

Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback Trevor Siemian has just recently been named one of the new team captains as the team heads into its biggest match-up of the season against Oakland Sunday night. Both teams sit at 6-2, so the winner will take sole control of the AFC West.

With six teams on bye this weekend, you’re probably getting desperate for replacements for your Week 9 fantasy match-up. Especially if you’re in a 12-14 team league.

And, well, this may sound strange, but Siemian could be your Week 9 savior if you are a Tom Brady, Andy Dalton or Carson Palmer owner.

Siemian is only owned in 16.0% of ESPN.com standard leagues according to my research, and he just lost running back C.J. Anderson for the season. Not to mention he’s coming off just an eight-point performance against San Diego last week. But he has a favorable match-up Sunday night against Oakland’s defense, a defensive unit which has allowed 20+ fantasy points from opposing QBs five times this year.

So far this season, Siemian hasn’t exactly been a consistent producer in the fantasy realm. The 24-year old signal caller, however, did manage to put up a 38-point performance (312 yards, 4 TD) against a Cincinnati Bengals defense in Week 3. So we do at least know he has big-game potential in him.

This weekend, on the road in Oakland, Siemian has a real shot at putting up 20+ points for your fantasy squad, especially considering this game could turn into a shootout with Derek Carr, Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree on the other side of the field.
