Rodgers, Gurley May Have Saved a Few Fantasy Seasons

December 18, 2017 • Ben Heck • Fantasy, Front Page, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, NFC

In his return to action Sunday, Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw three picks in a losing effort against Carolina.

But, his 290 yards and three touchdowns may have assisted in saving a few fantasy football seasons for those of you who were ballsy enough to put him back in your lineups for your respective postseason match-ups.

In my standard, 12-team PPR league (on ESPN.com), Rodgers put up 30 points despite the three picks. So if you started Rodgers over a guy like Russell Wilson (12 points), Tom Brady (18 points), Ben Roethlisberger (23 points), Alex Smith (22 points), Matt Stafford (21 points) or Philip Rivers (12 points), he may have kept you in your match-up.

But do you know who really had a great weekend? Todd Gurley owners.

With 152 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a 42-7 shellacking of division rival Seattle, Gurley put up 47 fantasy points for his owners. Although I’m a Gurley owner, I’m only still alive in the consolation round so I wasn’t as excited as fantasy owners who are still alive in the winner’s bracket.

Had he done this last week, I’d still be alive. It would certainly still be Gurley Time for me in the fantasy football world.

There’s always next year!
