Yawin will provide an NFL team with a great Instinctual player that will put forth the effort to be the best.

Smallwood, a top inside linebacker prospect for this May’s NFL Draft, took the time to briefly answer some of our questions:

All-Out Blitz: Do you feel the Michigan game earlier this year put your name on the map for scouts?

Yawin Smallwood: No, I feel like scouts seen what I have done in my previous seasons but it gave viewers a chance to see me compete against one of the most successful college programs and they saw that I played at a high level.

AOB: Who has influenced you the most in your life?

Smallwood: My mother she showed me that you can have and do whatever you want in life if you remain focused and work hard.

AOB: What kind of NFL player do you see yourself becoming?

Smallwood: One of the great ones a lot of people say they wanna be great but aren’t willing to do the little things to become great I’m a competitive guy and love playing the game and can’t wait to work with my coaches and teammates.

AOB: What do you feel is your biggest college accomplishment?

Smallwood: Going to the fiesta bowl as a team. We turned our season around when no one believed in us but the guys in our locker room

AOB: What’s one of the biggest things you learned during your UCONN career, as either a player and/or person?

Smallwood: I’ve always been a guy who believed that you get what you put in. The guys who work and are consistent are the great ones.

Yawin ranked No. 4 on our NFL Draft inside linebacker position rankings back in February.
