Emmaus High School RB Kyle Boney Talks About Historic Season

November 23, 2015 • John Ulecka • Front Page, High School, Interviews, Player Profiles, Youth/HS

Emmaus High School (Emmaus, PA) senior tailback Kyle Boney has topped what Andy Davidson (now a Freshman at Army) accomplished last season.

Boney is a big back (6’1″/225), who hits the holes and powers downhill, taking on defenders and always falling forward.

On 303 carries this season, Boney has racked up 2,434 yards and 41 total TD (40 rushing, 1 receiving)––both are new school records. He eclipsed Andy Davidson’s 2,042 yards and 26 TD set a season ago.

Boney has the skills to play at the next level and recruiting will start to ramp up for him in the coming months. Emmaus have developed some FBS players in the last few seasons, including Joe Williams (’11/Utah RB) and LB Andy Davidson (’14/Army LB).

Boney may be the next college football product out of Emmaus. We recently spoke with the aspiring college football player, discussing his high school career and his future:

All-Out Blitz: Who has been your biggest influence during your football career?

Kyle Boney: “I can’t really name one person because I’ve been fortunate enough to have a lot of people that have supported me. Everyone from family, friends, and current and past coaches.”

AOB: What would say is your biggest strength as a player?

KB: “I think my biggest strength as a player is how strong I am mentally. No matter what the score is I don’t let myself get down and I’ll always continue fighting through until the clock hits zero.”

AOB: Did you ever expect to have a season like this?

KB: “To be honest I’ve always wanted a season like I just had, but I never thought it would happen. I’m just happy that my team helped me accomplish everything that I did this year and I’m grateful for them.”

AOB: Do you plan on playing college football? Do you have a list of top five schools?

KB: “Yes, I will be playing football in college. I don’t have a top five as of right now.”

AOB: After a big season how has the recruiting life been? Has there been increased interest?

KB: “Yes, the recruiting life has been fun. I have been getting a lot of interest since my junior year and it has picked up now.”

AOB: What position do you expect to play in college?

KB: “I’m not really sure what position I will play in college. Maybe RB but I know a lot of people are recruiting me as an athlete, since I have played almost every position throughout my varsity career.”

AOB: What are your goals for the future?

KB: “I just want to be successful with football and go as far as I can.”

AOB: How have you grown during your High School career?

KB: “I have grown tremendously. I started out as a timid 170-pound cornerback starting varsity to who I am now.”

AOB: As your High School career has come to a close, how does it feel to have you name atop the Emmaus record books?

KB: “It feels absolutely great. The records that I have broken this year I have been working to get since I started playing football in the 7th grade, and it feels great to finally accomplish what I set out to do.”
