49ers Sign CFL Wide Receiver Eric Rogers to Lucrative Deal

January 20, 2016 • Ben Heck • Breaking News, Canadian Football League, Free Agency, Front Page, NFC West, San Francisco 49ers

Plenty of things going on in San Francisco lately.

Not only will Super Bowl 50 be hosted by the city in just a few weeks, but the franchise is introducing former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly as its next head coach this afternoon. Oh, and they are also giving a lucrative contract to former Canadian Football League WR Eric Rogers.

Adam Schefter revealed it via his Twitter account a bit ago:

Rogers Schefter

And, as Mr. Schefter so elegantly states, the contract San Francisco is signing Rogers to is the biggest NFL contract signed by a CFL player since Cameron Wake signed a four-year deal with the Miami Dolphins in 2009.

Rogers, 24, played the past two seasons with the Calgary Stampeders, catching 87 passes for 1,448 yards and 10 touchdowns in ’15.
