This is probably one of the worst parts about the dog days of summer around the National Football League: devastating season-ending injuries.
The Washington Redskins have reportedly lost Junior Galette for the entirety of the 2016 season with a torn Achilles. Yes, you read that correctly. Another torn Achilles for Galette, after suffering the same fate in August 2015.
The 28-year old linebacker went undrafted in 2010, but was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. He spent five seasons in New Orleans, putting up back-to-back double digit sack seasons in ’13 & ’14. He signed a one-year contract with the Redskins last season, but never played a down after suffering a torn achilles tendon on August 26.
It’s déja vu for Washington this season, as the front office re-signed Galette in March only to have him tear his other Achilles during drills on Sunday.
