After the Pittsburgh Steelers were upset by AFC North rival Baltimore last week, they no longer controlled their own destiny. Instead, the control went to the New York Jets. All New York would need to clinch the final spot in the AFC postseason is a Week 17 victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Pittsburgh, in turn, would need a Week 17 victory over Cleveland AND a New York Jets loss. Well, the Jets faltered and the Steelers somehow managed to pull off an ugly victory over the Cleveland Browns and quarterback Austin Davis, clinching the second Wild Card spot. They live to see another week of football action in January.
Ryan Fitzpatrick threw 3 fourth quarter picks, falling to the Bills 22-17 (same final score the last time these two teams met in November). Receiver Antonio Brown caught 13 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown in Pittsburgh’s 28-12 victory.
