NFC East: Another Veteran Quarterback Finds a New Home

I know it’s a college football Saturday kind of day, but it’s been an incredible news day for the National Football League.

Between final roster cut-downs, and the Sam Bradford to Vikings trade, and the Justin Gilbert to the Steelers trade, and now this. It’s been shocking news after shocking news.

The latest QB shake-up came shortly after the defending champion Denver Broncos cut ties with veteran Mark Sanchez.

With Tony Romo’s injury putting rookie Dak Prescott in position to start from Day 1, Jerry Jones & Co. made the decision to sign the veteran Sanchez to become Prescott’s mentor heading into the season next weekend.

Sanchez, 29, started just 10 games over his two seasons with Dallas’ division rival Philadelphia. He put up a record of 4-6 with the Eagles. Prior to his Philly tenure, Sanchez spent his first four NFL seasons with the New York Jets, putting up a 33-29 record in 62 Jets starts.

At this point in his career, Sanchez will be nothing more than a formidable back-up quarterback.
