Free safety Harrison Smith and the Minnesota Vikings have reached a lucrative, long-term contract extension.

The deal, worth $51.25 million over five years, includes a $10 million signing bonus according to Adam Schefter’s ESPN report. This contract makes Smith the highest-paid safety in the National Football League.

Smith, 27, is one of just three players with at least 150 tackles, 5 interceptions and two touchdowns from 2014-15. Smith will be entering his fifth season in the league this year, and is coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance a season ago.
